Deze kunsttentoonstelling put inspiratie uit onze eeuwige band met land en identiteit, en presenteert een visueel verhaal waarin het verleden als een spiegel voor het heden dient. Via kalligrafie komen letters tot leven in composities die een verhaal vertellen over verbondenheid en herinnering, terwijl ze dromen vangen die zweven tussen de charme van het verleden en turbulente verandering. Een ode aan iemands erfgoed in een moderne context, waar woorden zich verweven om een diepe connectie met het thuisland te duiden en de droom ervan op een tijdloze manier vorm te geven.

ISMAIL MATAR:

Ismail Matar (1998) is een Palestijnse kunstenaar in Brussel. Hij maakt gebruik van kalligrafie, schilderkunst, hedendaagse kunst en muurschilderingen om hoop uit te drukken. In Gaza werden muren van vluchtelingenkampen een schilderslinnen voor zijn expressie, een authentiek platform om de strijd van zijn gemeenschap weer te geven. Ismail's bedoeling is niet alleen om politieke boodschappen over te brengen via zijn kunst; hij wil vooral universele waarden benadrukken zoals hoop, vrijheid en dromen. Kunst als een universele taal die barrières kan overstijgen en gericht is naar een divers publiek. Ismail Matar gaf reeds kalligrafieworkshops aan volwassenen en kinderen in Palestina (Gaza), Zweden (Midsummer Garden; Studio Ung in Stockholm) en België (Brussel, Kortrijk).

Brussels-based, Palestinian artist Ismail Matar (b. 1998) employs calligraphy, painting, contemporary art and mural art to embody symbols of hope. During his time in Gaza, he found the walls of refugee camps to be a canvas for his expression. These walls provided an authentic platform to portray the struggles of his community. Ismail's intention isn't solely to convey political statements through his artwork; instead, he aims to emphasise universal values like hope, freedom, and dreams. Viewing art as a universal language capable of transcending barriers, Ismail aims at communicating to diverse audiences. Ismail Matar run workshops of calligraphy for adults and children in Palestine (Gaza), Sweden (Midsummer Gorden; Studioung in Stockholm), and Belgium (Brussels,Kortrijk).
