In de maanden mei-juni stelt Recyclart ruimte ter beschikking voor ontwikkeling. In de luwte voor de storm van ons jaarlijks zomerfestival is er plaats en tijd om onze site te vullen met ondersteuning bij afstudeerprojecten in de vorm van residenties, try-outs, onderzoek, jury’s, publieke momenten - een plek voor experiment, om dingen op hun beloop te laten gaan en een context te bieden waarin gecreëerd en getoond kan worden.

"My work delves into the intricate layers of identity, particularly the sad reality of feeling disconnected from my African roots. Born into a lineage shaped by migration and displacement, have profoundly influenced my sense of self. Drawing inspiration from the symbolism of traditional African masks, which are deeply rooted in the African tradition of animism, I, as a second-generation Afro-European, struggle with the complexities of blending my African heritage with my European cultural identity. Through the medium of paper maché, I've crafted these masks as an embodiment of the three generations of women in my family—grandmother, mother, and self— with each mask reflecting through audio the journey in which we/I have experienced the loss of African identity amidst the process of generational European integration."
