THE MENTAL MASONRY LAB is an artistic project of Cédric Noël and Mira Sanders that invites the spectator to reflect on public space through exercises of the imagination. It is a practice in constituting a space.
THE MENTAL MASONRY LAB resulted from a question:
how can we develop a tactic that would allow our imagination to blossom when faced with the preponderance of those urban signs intended for collective use?

The 2-Day WORKSHOP
- shares experiences and experiments that we made during a work residency at Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik in Berlin

- constitutes spaces

- walks in the city of Brussels

- delineates tactics used and explored in the gathering of material in the city

- reflects on the notion of the representation of the city

- tests the lab as an instrument to scale down, reflect, share, explore, draw out abductive perspectives,...

- emphasizes the role of the making in the process of the representation

- considers the imagination as a potential for a shared territory

- proposes to imagine and build mentally exercises

- takes different rhythms and instructions to explore different paths in the Mental Masonry Lab

- asks to uncover (new) strata living in the project

participants will need to bring:
- a basic set of tools for modelling (cutter, glue, cut mat, scissors...)
- a basic set of materials for modelling (paper, cardboard, own preferred materials...)
- a photocamera + USB stick
