Op elektrische banjo, gitaar, kazoo en baspedalen (zie ook Jesse Fuller) schreeuwt hij zich eigenzinnig een weg naar de hemelpoorten met de Bijbel in de hand. Met beperkte technische middelen, klagende zang en spaarzame banjo, elementen die aan de witte folk van de Appalachen doen denken, bereikt hij een maximale impact bij het berouwvolle en zondige publiek. Deze man nam pas op z’n veertigste levensjaar de tenorbanjo ter hand om zijn spirituele zoektocht vorm te geven. Ondertussen heeft hij een indrukwekkende schare gelovigen in Europa en de Verenigde Staten. Zo weggestapt uit een hedendaagse Alan Lomax fieldrecording. Een aangenaam anachronisme. **MULABANDA** (IT/NL/PT) Neem een onstuimige bassist, gepokt en gemazeld in de Nederlandse underground en zet hem op een podium met 3 getalenteerde improvistoren. Voeg er een flinke dosis electronica, noise, spaced out rock en een zeste ambient met funk…en je krijgt Mulabanda. Ze musiceerden individueel reeds samen met o.a. Jim O’Rourke, Arve Henriksen, Chris Corsano (Di Domenico), Norberto Lobo, Enrico Rava (Lobo), Mark Sanders, Nate Wooley (Martini), Burton Greene.. Voor wie een referentie wenst: denk aan ‘This Heat’ dertig jaar later.
