Together, we’ll think about our relationships with existing public and private spaces dotted along the canal, and the types of barriers they create – visible and invisible, physical and social. As the neighborhood becomes home to newly designed *inclusive* projects as part of larger city branding goals, we ask: how is space manufactured through political and economic interest? Whose struggles are instrumentalized in the process, whose accessibility is prioritized? We’ll walk, make notes, and exchange observations to reflect on the tensions between everyday lived experiences and processes of neoliberal urban transformation. The walk begins at 6PM and ends at 7.30PM, followed by more conversations over dinner at Recyclart’s Bar & Resto. Both are active and engaged architects based in Brussels. While they are the founders of the design practice De Strip Architects. Behind the scenes, they operate as Stripping Architecture. The primary goal of this platform is to strip away the physicality of the built environment and expose its core values - especially the social ones. Stripping Architecture focuses predominantly on the political and economic dimensions of architecture, which ultimately plays a crucial role in shaping social justice.
