Van psychedelica over rock tot Egyptische shaabi: het moet er allemaal aan geloven maar de opnames munten uit door gelaagde percussie en gedurfde overgangen. Hij zal in Recyclart optreden met zijn live trio waarmee hij nu op Transmediale (Berlijn) staat. **The Dwarfs of East Agouza** Is de beeldrijke naam voor een trio, dat in 2012 in Cairo gevormd werd met **Maurice Louca** (keyboards/electronics), **Sam Shalabi** (electric guitar/synth) en **Alan Bishop** (guitar/saxophone/vocals). Sam Shalabi (die o.a. met Godspeed you…werkte) was in 2014 als solo-udspeler te gast in Recyclart voor ‘Urban Rituals’ en Alan Bishop kennen we als bezieler van het ‘Sublime Frequencies’-label. De groep speelt voornamelijk hypnotiserende improvisaties, die in de loop van dit jaar zouden uitgebracht worden. Gezien de geweldig drukke tijdsbesteding van deze heren is het uitzonderlijk om ze samen aan het werk te zien. Mis deze kans niet!
