Zijn onderzoek aan de universiteit van Birmingham bevraagt de lokale stedenbouwkundige strategieën met betrekking tot het herstel van de stad en de reorganisatie van het openbaar vervoer in het post-industriële tijdperk. Birmingham is qua bevolking de tweede grootste stad van het Verenigd Koninkrijk en één van de belangrijkste economische verkeers- en vervoersknooppunten van het land.
