In 2003 sticht hij het documentatiecentrum « El Nour » (Arabisch voor licht) en neemt hij 16 fotografen en 20.000 foto’s onder zijn hoede. Het iconografische geheugen van het land aan de oevers van de Nijl is daarmee gewaarborgd. Claude Iverne zal de fotoreeks van Rashi Mahdi « The Gifted Man » tonen en bespreken alsook Abbas, die fotografie als propagandamiddel inzet. Of de verbluffende techniek van Gahory Gahory en Fouad met ontspannen poses uit de jaren ’70, toen Soedan verzwolg onder vaten bier en dronken jazz. Te ontdekken juweeltjes dus, uit de stoffige zolders van Khartoum.
