Tegenover de eindeloze dynamiek van de nooit voltooide megastad staat het tijdloze, onveranderlijke karakter eigen aan het oude Brugge. De Triënnale brengt beide beelden samen in het unieke historische centrum wat leidt tot boeiende artistieke ontmoetingen en confrontaties. Tussen de kustenaars die van over de hele wereld naar Brugge afzakken is de Canadees **[Nicolas Grenier](http://www.nicolasgrenier.com/),** een beloftevolle visuele kunstenaar. Zij schilderingen en architecturale installaties zijn een vertaling van sociale en politieke structuren. Hij zal op 21.04 in Recyclart Congres een blik werpen op recent werk en zijn nieuw project voor de Triënnale Brugge voorstellen, **Vertically Integrated Socialism**, een conceptuele structuur in een kerk dat de hele sociale piramide vertegenwoordigt. *Nicolas Grenier behaalde een diploma aan de universiteit Concordia, Canada (2004) en een master aan het California Institute of the Arts (2010). Hij woont en werkt in Los Angeles en Montreal, en zijn werk is regelmatig tentoongesteld in Canada, de Verenigde Staten en Europa.
