Dit vijftal klinkt oud en nieuw tegelijk en werd gevormd door Eblis Álvarez, één van de sleutelfiguren van de experimentele muziekscène in Bogotà. Als volleerd avant-garde gitarist en componist speelt hij ook in Mario Galeano’s groep Frente Cumbiero en was hij betrokken bij de opname van de plaat van Ondatrópica. In september vorig jaar bracht **Soundway Records** zijn nieuwe plaat 'Desperanza' uit. Gilles Peterson riep prompt het nummer ‘Guaracha U.F.O’ uit tot zijn 'nummer 1' van 2012! Kristian Craig Robinson (GB) speelt percussie en synths bij het Britse art rock combo Archie Bronson Outfit en electronica bij Serafina Steer. Sinds 13 jaar is **Capitol K** zijn alter ego en een bron voor onophoudelijke zelfvernieuwing, met zowat 5 platen op indie electronica labels als Planet Mu, XL & Faith & Industry. Zijn laatste plaat 'Andean Dub' uit 2012, is een experimentele, hypnotische conceptplaat die dubsferen en lo fi gitaarspel paart aan cumbia; de invloed van een lange baanreis door Peru, Bolivia en Argentinië. **DJ Hugo Mendez** (GB - Sofrito DJ Collective) brengt een unieke mengeling van Afrikaanse, Caraïbische en Latijns-amerikaanse ritmes - percussief vuurwerk met Afro funk, old school mambo, tropische disco, springerige samba, calypso funk en zware cumbia. Vaak worden deze klassieke stijlen nog door de remix- en edit-molen gehaald voor exclusieve dansvloer dubplates. Mendez reisde ook door de Caraïben op zoek naar oude vinylplaten en vergeten muzikanten en stelde voor labels als Strut, Jazzman, Soundway en Nascente veelgelauwerde verzamelplaten samen. Daarnaast produceert hij met Nostalgia 77 het Latin Jazz project 'Rhythmagic Orchestra' en verzorgt hij de tropische selectie voor 22tracks in Parijs. **Funky Bompa & The Wild** (BE) zijn Brusselse platenjagers en zwaargewichten wat tropische muziek van de jaren '60 en '70 betreft. Hun handelsmerk is een mix van stijlen uit Latijns-Amerika, Afrika en de CaraÎben, zoals boogaloo, cumbia, calypso, afro funk, tipica, merengue etc. Ook elke zondagavond live te horen op FM Brussel, 98.8 FM. Nightshop Party dj van het huis **Leblanc** (BE - Rebel Up! collective) zal voor deze avond openen met een speciale selectie van Mexicaanse cumbia sonidera en slepende rebajada's uit de buitenwijken van Puebla, DF & Monterreyyyyyyy...
