Deze architecte (afgestudeerd in 1976) is minder bekend bij het grote publiek maar sinds jaren gelauwerd en geprezen door haar collega’s architecten. Zo werd haar werk nog onlangs bekroond op de architectuurbiënnale van Venetië. Maria Giuseppina Grasso Cannizzo – ooit omschreven als « een koppige perfectioniste met tonnen charisma » - zal ons komen vertellen over haar werk en over Sicilië. Beide onderwerpen zijn onafscheidelijk met elkaar verbonden aangezien ze al meer dan dertig jaar op dat eiland leeft en werkt. Haar ontwerpen zijn precies, verzorgd en afgemeten : nu eens radicaal, dan weer gevoelig maar steeds stralen ze lef uit en ervaring. Ze schenkt veel aandacht aan context en discours, dat steeds verder en dieper reikt dan de constructie.
