We proberen alles zo snel mogelijk terug in te plannen en hopen jullie snel terug te mogen verwelkomen.** ### STAY STRONG, TAKE CARE, ROCK ON X, RECYCLART** *Lundi 23 septembre 1985, c'est l'automne, j'ai 39 ans, 5 mois et 11 jours, et j'ai décidé de commencer un oeuvre qui, je le souhaite, s'achèvera le jour de ma mort. Quotidiennement, où que je sois, je réaliserai une sculpture buccale en chewing-gum. Seul un cas de force majeure pourrait me faire rompre ce contrat. Quotidiennement seront notés à la plume et à l'encre,* *- l'heure de la mastication \- l'heure de la naissance de la sculpture \- la date du vernissage de la sculpture \- les évènements personnels qui marqueront cette journée \- les évènements du monde qui attiront mon attention* Gilbert Descossy (°1946) maakt kauwgomsculpturen. Zijn mond, tong en tranden kneden en vormen een wereld van kleurrijk rubber. In 1985 beloofde hij zichzelf en zijn kaakspieren om elke dag een chiclette te sculpteren. Hij beeldhouwt 'en aveugle avec les mains dans les poches' zoals hij zelf zegt. Beginnend met eenvoudige volumes (ballen, blokjes, ringen) ging hij over tot spelen met de kleuren van de materie (tweekleurige vlechten, driekleurige kettingen....) maar ook letters en woorden, zinnen, cijfers, tekens, menselijke figuren, kruisbeelden, gezichten, fallussen en zelfs een portet van zijn vader). Dat resulteert ondertussen, 35 jaar later, in een hele verzameling werken, gemaakt over de hele wereld, tijdens zijn vele reizen en omzwervingen, telkens vergezeld van zorgvuldig neergeschreven dagboekdocumentatie, foto's, datum, uur en context.
