[Europalia](http://europalia.eu/) presenteert een avond vol Indonesische melodieën. **Bayu Aditya**, afkomstig uit de bruisende studentenstad Bandung, is een eclectische DJ en fervente platenverzamelaar. Hij is bekend voor zijn alternatieve muziekkeuzes en zijn talent om alle mogelijke elektronische muziekstijlen naadloos te vermengen in zijn sets, met virtuoos alternerende ritmes, energieën en emoties. De voorbije tien jaar was Bayu nauw betrokken bij talloze muziekprojecten zoals Tambora Radio (Puff Puff Pass), A Colourful Storm Radio en Bhang Records, om er maar enkele te noemen. Hij is momenteel een van de drijvende krachten achter Push/Pull, een rebelse feest- en muziekcollectief in Bandung. **Filastine** bestaat sinds 2004 uit de Amerikaanse drummer, componist, producer en videokunstenaar Grey Filastine en de Javaanse zangeres en ontwerper Nova Ruth. Voor hij in 2006 onder de naam Filastine ging werken, trad Grey op met de Infernal Noise Brigade, een guerrilla straatorkest dat opdook bij grootschalige protestdemonstraties tegen de machtigen en rijken der aarde. Hij leidt een nomadisch bestaan en heeft overal op de wereld omgevingsopnamen gemaakt en ritmes bestudeerd. Tijdens een van die reizen ontmoette hij Nova Ruth, de helft van de Indonesische rapband Twin Sista. Sindsdien opereren ze als duo. Ruth heeft een brede muzikale achtergrond. In haar jeugd zong ze gospels en reciteerde ze koranverzen in moskeeën. Daarnaast speelt ze gamelan. Als duo is Filastine trouw gebleven aan Grey’s activistische verleden. Ze brengen albums uit met titels als Loot, Dirty Bomb en Burn It. **Jogja Hip Hop Foundation** (**JHF**) wordt beschouwd als een van de belangrijkste hiphopcollectieven van Zuidoost-Azië. JHF werd aanvankelijk opgericht als verzamelplek voor opkomende rappers uit Yogyakarta. Al snel beseften ze dat ze meer deelden dan enkel hun geboortestreek en dat was de start van een lange en productieve samenwerking. JHF is urban, optimistisch en trots op hun cultuur: een boeiend voorbeeld van hoe het traditionele en hedendaagse Indonesië samensmelten. De Javaanse identiteit is nooit ver weg in hun muziek: de teksten besprenkelen oude Javaanse gedichten met slang, de ritmes sluiten zowel aan bij internationale hiphop als bij de traditionele gamelan en de muziek is een combinatie van heftige rap en lokale melodieën en technieken.
