Gefascineerddoor de fysiekeaanwezigheid van klei, het materiaal en de plasticiteitervan, creëert Jean monsters die hijvormgeeftdoor het materiaal te overschilderen en te overbelasten. OverdrevendoorhogetemperaturenkrijgenJean'ssculpturen de weelderigekleur van eendiep, donkeremail. Jean vecht met de middelen van representatie om het monsterlijke in vraag te stellen: watisnormaal en abnormaal? Het menselijke en het onmenselijke?
