Samen vormen ze het duo Balladur, een mix van dub, new wave en rockabilly. De 9 nummers op “Pourquoi certains arbres sont si grands” worden achtervolgd door de nostalgie van hoop en gelukkige dagen en hebben een stevig “wat-maakt-het-uit” gehalte. Is het Italiaanse passie uit de jaren 70? Is het de onthutsende frontaliteit? De obsessieve smaak voor clair-obscur? Dit zegt het Britse label Disciples over hen: “Een episch verhaal over obsessie en blind verlangen verteld door een reeks prachtig geconstrueerde afwijkende popsongs. Charlène Darling doet denken aan de feministische post-punk van de Raincoats, Brigitte Fontaine en Cate le Bon en klinkt heel erg als zichzelf.
