We brengen ‘chaabi’ uit Marokko en ‘electro chaabi’ uit Cairo, Egypte, afgewisseld met andere populaire stijlen zoals reggada, dabke, kabyle...* De jongens van **Rebel Up!** laten steevast de wereld door de luidsprekers knallen. Van het Marokkaanse Rifgebergte tot de hangende tuinen van Babylon: u maakt een opwindende reis mee doorheen de rijke populaire Maghrebijnse en Arabische muziekcultuur. 22:00 > 23:00 buiten **Hakim Bouanani** is een virtuoos van de Marokkaanse knieviool (speelt ook oud) excelleert in chaabi, raï, oriental en reggada, dé Marokkaanse dansmuziek bij uitstek op, bijvoorbeeld, trouwfeesten. Hij speelt in diverse formaties, schittert ondermeer ook op de Camping Shaabi-cd van Think of One uit 2007 en werkte verleden jaar met het Antwerpse theatergezelschap MarthaTentatief. Met zijn broer Hicham op synthesizer en elektronische beats en een zanger vormen ze een explosief trio dat staat voor onvervalst dansplezier. **Orchestre Rouany** is een vijfkoppige Marokkaanse groep die staat voor opzwepende chaabi van de beste soort: wild en ongebreideld. Tussendoor ook nog overtuigende excursies naar reggada en raï. Centraal staan de broers Younes (knieviool) en Kamal (toetsen) - oorspronkelijk afkomstig uit het diepe zuiden van Marokko (Ouarzazate). Ze houden de vinger aan de pols ondermeer door de laatste hits van Marokkaanse bodem op te volgen en na te spelen. Het muzikale niveau is hoog: de broers zijn extreem wendbaar door het urenlange spelen op trouwfeesten en het minste signaal is voldoende om het roer totaal om te gooien. **Cairo Liberation Front** is een Nederlands dj-duo dat Electro-Cha3bi promoot, rauwe elektronische dansmuziek uit de arme buitenwijken van Cairo populair werd tijdens het gewoel van de Egyptische revolutie twee jaar geleden. Zij zijn de eerste Westerse dj’s die het genre bekendheid gaven buiten Caïro en brachten ook de eerste mixtapes uit, die door vele internationale blogs en dj’s werden opgepikt. Verwacht vette hiphop-beats, kapotte electro, Oosterse dancehall, wild overslaande Arabische toonladders en heel veel autotune: een studio-effect dat de (valse) toonhoogtes van zangstemmen corrigeert.
