Van daaruit, vanuit dit lichaam zonder orgaan zoals Deleuze zou zeggen, zijn alle experimenten mogelijk. We hopen dat u kunt volgen! Pierre-Jean Vranken (Electronics) JJ Duerinckx (saxes) **JOY AS A TOY** De Brusselaars van Joy as a Toy klinken vrolijk en dreigend tegelijk. Ze spelen wrange soundtracks bij uw natte angstdromen en slagen erin om complexe deuntjes te doen klinken als het spreekwoordelijke ‘fluitje van een cent’. Hun muziek is gelaagd en slaagt er wonderwel in om u op het verkeerde been te doen dansen. Op hun tweede cd ‘Dead as a Dodo’ lieten ze zich inspireren door een meester van de B-film: Dario Argento. U voelt het, om hun muziek treffend te omschrijven dringt een ‘contradictio in terminis’ zich op: “duistere lichtvoetigheid” of “neurotisch olijk”? Alleszins steevast overgoten met een flinke scheut power-rock! Kouma is woest geluid met diepe instrumenten en zware riffs. Kouma is heftig: wilde ritmes, adrenalineopstoten en steile klimmen. Kouma is de oneigenlijke kruising van een beer met een poney. **Romain Dugelay** (baritonsax) stichter van het GROLEKTIV is ook componist en actief o.a. bij Bigre, Ryr, Polymorphie, Diagonal. Baritongitarist **Damien Cluzel** kennen we hier van o.a. Ukandanz (ookThôt Twin). Drummer **Leo Dumont** beukt o.a. bij Factotum, Octave la Croute, TûT. Ergens tussen Mathrock, noise en met echos van een verre, embryonale vorm van jazz, staat Kouma voor brute free-rock met hoekige polyritmiek die mikt op trance.
