Atypische lichamen met vaak gemaskerde gezichten poseren in grappig-scabreuze houdingen in een barokke maar meticuleus verzorgde theatrale scenografie (denk o.a. aan Witkin). Het humoristisch ontwapenende haalt steeds de bovenhand op het schokerende. Alan Tex specialiseert zich in de uithoeken van de menselijke fantasie met beelden die een aangenaam anachronisme zijn in deze van verbeelding ontdane dagelijkse realiteit.
