Ze verkent de wens van de kunstenaar om in een tijdperk van transdisciplinariteit opnieuw ambachtelijke kennis te vergaren en te beheersen. De manier waarop deze ambachtelijke kennis wordt overgeleverd staat in het middelpunt van haar werk: of het nu gaat over de traditionele hiërarchische overlevering van meester naar leerling, een handboek voor zondagsschilders of video handleidingen. Alisa Cavers gebruikt deze handleidingen als beginpunt, vervolgens verdraait ze deze in een bevrijdende poging om ruimte voor experiment te creëren.
