Quand commence l'avant-garde ? A quel point la musique dite « ancienne » est-elle « actuelle » ? Cette année, nous avons invité le danseur et céramiste Kosi Hidama à créer une installation sur le thème du temps, variante d'une oeuvre précédemment réalisée pour le Working Title Festival. Figure emblématique de l'avant-garde new-yorkaise depuis plus de 30 ans, [**Elliott Sharp**](http://www.elliottsharp.com/) a enregistré plus de 85 albums d'avantjazz, noise, no wave … et joué avec Jack DeJohnette, Ensemble Modern, Christian Marclay et beaucoup d'autres. En 2014, il est devenu Guggenheim Fellow et a reçu en 2015 le Berlin Prize in Musical Composition de l'American Academy de Berlin. Pour le festival Urban Rituals, il interprétera la musique de le **Thelonious Monk** en guitare acoustique: MONK? SHARP! MONK! [****Nizar Rohana****](http://www.nizarrohana.com/) (°1975) est un joueur de oud palestinien qui, tout en s'ancrant dans la tradition, élargit l'avenir de cet instrument. Immergé tout autant dans la musique classique européenne que dans la musique de Tanburi Cemil Bey, Kemani Tatyus Efendi, Muhammad Al-Qasabji et Muhammad Abdel Wahab, il combine avec virtuosité l'actuel et le passé. Depuis 2013, il poursuit à Leiden un doctorat en improvisation et composition. Il y a à peu près 13 ans, [**Winne Clément**](http://www.fujaraflutes.com/) s'est mis à fabriquer des **fujaras.** Ces très longues flutes, utilisées à l'origine par les bergers de Slovaquie, sont composées de deux tubes, un long (1,5 à 2 mètres) et un plus court (50 à 80 centimètres), fixés l'un à l'autre à l'aide d'une courroie en cuir. Depuis, il fabrique aussi d'autres flutes ethniques ainsi que, de plus en plus, des créations propres, souvent des hybrides de différents instruments.
