Dans son élocution, Van De Putte évoquera succinctement l’évolution technologique, la tension entre l’initiative privée et publique et les intérêts divergents derrière ce projet. Son récit se terminera sur le moment où la première brèche a été réalisée physiquementdans le cadre de la liaison actuelle entre la gare du Midi et la gare du Nord.
