Cap sur Beijing, ville en pleine mutation et expansion, où tout change mais pas forcément à coups de bulldozer comme on peut parfois le montrer dans les médias. James Shen, qui sera notre orateur du soir, a fondé le bureau [PAO (People’s Architecture Office)](http://www.peoples-architecture.com/pao/en/) avec ses assocés He Zhe et Zang Feng en 2010 à Beijing. Leurs compétences et échelles de projets vont de la toute petite échelle jusqu’au plan d’urbanisme, mais ce qui les anime est la foi dans ce que le design peut avoir d’impact social, pour le plus grand nombre. Leur agence a reçu plusieurs prix, non seulement pour les projets réalisés (Red Dot Awards, Architizer Awards, World Architecture Festival,..) mais aussi pour leur dimension d’entreprenariat social. Leur travail a déjà été présenté en de nombreux lieux importants, en ce compris l’incontournable Biennale de Venise.
