Bonebridge en est un. Ce quartet est une version élargie du ‘Broken Arm trio’ d’Erik Friedlanders flanqué du guitariste Doug Wamble. Friedlander, violoncelle, et Dunn, basse, nous sont familiers e.a. par les constellations de John Zorn ‘Bar Kokhba’ et ‘Dreamers’. Friedlander a l’art de s’approprier la musique rurale américaine à laquelle il confère toujours avec brio une dimension contemporaine qui dépasse de loin les Appalaches. Le dialogue entre les cordes pincées du violoncelle et le slide sur la guitare relève de la magie pure. La fusion de l’ingénieux avant-jazz urbain avec les accents de l’Amérique rurale est d’une perfection admirable. Une perle à chérir.
