À eux deux, ils forment le duo Balladur un mélange de dub, new wave, rockabilly. Les 9 pistes de “Pourquoi certains arbres sont si grands” se retrouvent hantées par la nostalgie des espoirs, des jours heureux et un goût de cendre àquoiboniste très unique. Est-ce cette passion italienne 70's ? Est-ce la frontalité sidérante du texte ? Ce goût obsessionnel pour le clair obscur ? Voici ce qu'en dit le label anglais Disciples : "Toute une épopée d'obsession amoureuse et de désirs aveugles racontée à travers d'une série de chansons pop déviantes magnifiquement construites. Rappelant tout autant le post-punk féministe des Raincoats, Brigitte Fontaine, ou Cate le Bon, Charlène Darling sonne surtout juste comme elle-même.
