Elle explore le souhait de l’artiste de se réapproprier un savoir artisanal en ces temps où domine la transdisciplinarité. Au cœur de son travail : la manière dont ce savoir artisanal est transmis, qu’il s’agisse de la transmission hiérarchique traditionnelle de maître à élève, d’un manuel pour des peintres du dimanche ou d’instructions vidéo. Ailsa Cavers utilise ces modes d’emploi comme point de départ, ensuite, elle les détourne dans une tentative libératrice de créer de l’espace pour l’expérimentation.
